February 3, 1921 - December 7, 2025
Jean Argyelan, age 104, passed away on December 7, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born February 3, 1921 to Edward and Ludwiga Gaszewski (nee Kierczenska) Jean was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She grew up with a deep appreciation for family and traditional values that she carried with her throughout her life. She was pre-deceased by her husband Martin Argyelan.
Jean was the proud and loving mother of Paul (Susan) Argyelan, the late Barbara Jean Argyelan, David (Jacqui) Argyelan, Izzy (the late David) Cherrone, and Margaret Argyelan (Martin Butzen). She cherished her role as grandmother to Lisa (David) McCreary and Joe (Kinsey) Cherrone and great grandmother to Eli, Gavin, and Austin.
Jean was a force of nature and up until her death remained physically and mentally active. She was never one to be idle and even after she reached 100 she could be foudn folding clother for a refugee center. Jean remained an ardent Notre Dame fan her entire life and never ceased to cheer her team on. She was an enthusiastic card player and enjoyed teaching the game of Hand and Foot to friends and caretakers alike. Jean also learned to embrace the new, developing a passion for historical fiction and chair tap dancing in her final years.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Jean found great comfort and strength in prayer. Her rosary was always within reach and she never failed to keep friends and familiy in her intentions during her early morning and late evening prayers.
