June 2, 1945 – July 3, 2025
Marcy Korper Nelson, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on June 2, 1945, to Anton and Helen Korper (née Krauss), Marcy was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She grew up with a deep appreciation for family and tradition values she carried with her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Hank” Nelson.
Marcy was the proud and loving mother of Joe (Jodi), Michelle (Wally), and Jason (Melissa). She cherished her role as grandmother to Chris (Maggie), Julia, Sami, Jill, Jake, Gabby, Joshua, Oliver, Jennifer, Jason, Matthew, and Jonny, and nothing brought her more joy than being “Gigi” to little Marcy Marie, who brought new light into her later years.
She was the beloved sister of the late Arlene, the late Germaine, Joyce, and Diane. Marcy was also a treasured aunt and great-aunt to many always ready with a warm hug, wise advice, and a story from the past to share.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Marcy found great comfort and strength in prayer. Her early-morning rosaries in Pentwater were a quiet but powerful expression of her devotion.
Her heart belonged to her family and to Pentwater, Michigan. Her memories there were filled with laughter, sun-soaked days, and the peaceful rhythm of the water that brought her so much joy.
Marcy will be remembered for her unwavering love, her strength, and the way she made everyone feel special and deeply loved. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the countless lives she touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor on Saturday, July 12th at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard’s (13030 W 143rd St, Homer Glen, IL), followed by a procession to St. Casimir’s Cemetery for a graveside ceremony at approximately 11:45 AM. After the cemetery, we invite you to join us for a celebration of life at Michelle’s home, beginning around 12:30 PM.
In the arms of our Blessed Mother, and at peace with the Lord. No more pain, only peace.
